Ruffino Modus Toscana 2012

Editor's Rating
8.5
All hail the Super Tuscans! This wine certainly deserves such praise. On the nose, spice, dark fruit and oak. On the palate: moderate tannins, hints of plum and black cherries, with oak and balsamic on the finish. Decanting harmonizes the flavors - recommend. A stalwart of the Ruffino family, this red blends Sangiovese (50%) as it's core, Merlot (25%) to smooth out the taste and, finally Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) to give this beautiful wine structure. With the designation of "Modus" which is Latin for "Method," we can certainly see and taste how Ruffino captures the terroir of Tuscany in this contemporary crafted wine.
