Looking for an affordable Pinot Noir (yes, they do exist)? Look a little further and you'll arrive at Estancia. Hailing from Monterey County this $13 bottle of wine is accessible even if Pinots are not your wine of choice. The floral, barnyard aroma immediately indicates its Pinot origin yet its lively qualities of over-ripe cherry and licorice notes on the palate are a great bridge for non-Pinot drinkers. (i.e. it doesn't taste like you're licking rocks) The finish leaves you with a lasting buttery brown sugar and vanilla send off. The wine is consistent yet uninspired, especially for the Pinot purists.
